Labiaplasty: post-operative cares
The wound of the labiaplasty is sealed with soluble suture, so no threads need to be removed afterwards. The scars are small and will feel supple very quickly after the surgery.
The wound itself heals relatively fast. Wound fluids can, however, exit the wound and extravasations can occur because the labia are filled with blood vessels. So, the labia can initially be sensitive and swollen.
It is important that you take extra care of the wound during the first few days after the labiaplasty. You should shower once or twice a day, rinse the vagina after every toilet break and wear a panty shield during the first two weeks.
After the labiaplasty you may experience discomfort when sitting down, going to the toilet or having intercourse. Therefore, you are advised to avoid intercourse during the first four weeks after the labiaplasty.
Everyday activities can be resumed about two weeks after the labiaplasty.
